“Please meet Gavin Burgler, also referred to as Gav, Givvy-Gav, Gavster, and Mr. Shibs.
“Gavin was, as he was often told, the best Shiba Inu that has ever Shiba Inu’ed. Although he was a small dog, he packed a big personality – we always knew exactly how he was feeling. Whether he was panting with joy or expressing dissatisfaction with his signature huff, we were never left wondering how our dear little runt felt about a situation. He spent his days sunbathing – particularly in front of windows for an added bird watching bonus-, running around in the backyard, and snoozing on his big blue chair. Our favorite memories of him include introducing him to New York winters (he was NOT a fan,) sharing handfuls of pupcorn while we watched reality tv, and feeling him snuggle up to us every night when we went to sleep. He always chose the most inconvenient spot, and always refused to move.
“We lost Gavin last year due to complications with blood clots in both of his hind legs. He passed surrounded by those who loved him the most after two days of frantic testing, medication trials, and numerous scans. We found ourselves in a position that many pet owners unfortunately end up in – our baby was hurt, and the only thing we could do was pay for a fighting chance. We are honored to donate to The Hugo Foundation and hope that the donation is used to help another family navigate the terrifying process of a medical emergency. Our dream is that no one will ever need it, but if you do, please utilize this incredible foundation. And when your pet is all healed up and back at the house, give them a couple of pieces of microwave popcorn – it’s what Gav would have wanted.”
Gavin Burgler, 2013 – 2024
