Sweet Shayla and the Case of the Fractured Mandible

A sweet black cat at Green Acres Veterinary Center, recovering from jaw surgery

Meet Shayla – a sweet, one-year-old domestic shorthair. She’s a total sweetheart, adopted from Cat by Cat Inc. in Amherst by her human, Chandler. Shayla’s a playful kitty who loves doing the weirdest things – like sunbathing and rolling around on the carpet, something Chandler always thought only dogs did!

Unfortunately, Shayla recently had a bit of a mishap. An appliance fell on her, causing a fractured mandible (ouch!). Chandler rushed her in to our friends over at Green Acres Veterinary Center during emergency hours. Thankfully, Shayla had a great prognosis, but she needed surgery to fix her little jaw.

This surgery can be very expensive, so Chandler came to The Hugo Foundation for help. After submitting an application, we were able to contribute $1,000 towards Shayla’s surgery so we could help her get the best possible care. We’re so happy to report she’s on the mend and doing much better! It just goes to show how sometimes even the most playful cats need a little help. We’re so grateful to be able to help her!
